Cougars Bury Miners, 72-58

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.- J.B. Jones led the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball team to a win over Missouri-Rolla 72-58 Thursday night in the Vadalabene Center.
         The win put the Cougars at 14-12 overall and 9-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Missouri-Rolla fell to 7-19 overall and 2-16 in the GLVC.
         It was a close game throughout the first half, but the Cougars pulled away in the second half. SIUE was down 36-34 before they went on a 13-0 to put them up 47-36 with 11:00 minutes to play.
         The Cougars shot 46.2 percent from the field while Missouri-Rolla shot 36.5 percent on the night.
         SIUE was led by J. B. Jones, who seemed to be everywhere for the Cougars, putting up a double-double with his 13 points and 11 assists. Jones also added six rebounds and four steals.
         The Cougars were led in scoring by Anthony Jones with 16 points and Doug Taylor's 14 points. Anthony Jones, who was 4-of-4 from three-point range, helped the Cougars gain their 13 point lead in the second half.
         The Miners were led by Yamani Ball, who put up 20 points, and Joe Shardo, who scored 15 with the help of three 30-foot three-pointers.
         The Cougars will wrap up its regular season Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Vadalabene Center.
