Quincy Tops Cougars 67-55

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Andre Muse led all scorers with 23 points as Quincy defeated Southern Illinois University 67-55 Saturday in men's Great Lakes Valley Conference basketball.
         Quincy, 17-4 and ranked No. 13 in the NABC/NCAA Division II coaches poll, allowed SIUE within one point early in the second half then scored eight unanswered points and held off SIUE's offense.
         The Cougars managed 12 points from Nick Arth and 11 points from Ty Johnson off the bench. SIUE shot 37 percent for the game and was 3 of 18 from three-point range at Pepsi Arena.
         Muse shot 7 of 10 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and converted 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Joel Box, the GLVC's Player of the Week, haunted the Cougars with 12 points, 10 rebounds, seven blocks and six assists. Quincy was more efficient from three-point range, hitting 7 of 15 shots for the game.
         SIUE continues its road trip Thursday when it travels to Springfield, Mo., for a 7:30 p.m. game at Drury. The Cougars and the Panthers are deadlocked at 7-6 in the GLVC. The winner of the game takes sole possession of third place in the GLVC West Division.
