Cougars Take Two From Central Missouri

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- No. 7-ranked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball took two games Wednesday from Central Missouri, winning 5-4 and 3-0.
         The Cougars improved to 23-4 overall. Central Missouri watched its record even to 14-14.
         Kaitlin Colosimo, 11-1, scattered five hits for her fifth shutout of the season. The Great Lakes Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week struck out six and did not walk a batter.
         Libby Lenart singled home what would be the winning run in the fourth inning. Freshman outfielder Chaleen Rumpf doubled home a pair of runs in the fifth inning.
         SIUE offense put together just enough runs to help Sabra McCune record her 10th victory of the season in game one. McCune surrendered a pair of home runs to Central Missouri in the fourth and fifth innings.
         The Cougars rallied for three runs in the fourth inning. After three walks by Central Missouri starter Lauren Young, Central Missouri called on Kristal Holland to take over at pitcher. Holland was victimized an infield error as Nicole Beecher reached first safely. Lauren Zembruski then doubled home a pair of runs.
         SIUE scored twice in the fifth when Emily Lenart singled home Ashley Price. Libby Lenart scored right behind her on a bobbled ball by Central Missouri right fielder Amanda Daley.
         The Cougars return to GLVC play Saturday as they take on UW-Parkside in a noon doubleheader at Kenosha, Wis.
