Eastern Illinois Drops Cougars

         CHARLESTON, Ill. - Rachel Galligan shot 10 of 14 from the field to lead Eastern Illinois to a 76-58 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in women's college basketball action Wednesday night.
         Eastern Illinois improved to 7-3 overall while the Cougars fell to 1-9.
         "We battled in the second half despite the score differential," said SIUE Coach Amanda Levens. "Eastern Illinois was a tough matchup for us."
         SIUE freshman Kate Affourtit tossed in 14 points off the bench, including a season-high four three-pointers. Ashley Bey added 10 for the Cougars.
         Eastern Illinois grabbed a 12-point lead at halftime and kept the pressure on the Cougars over the final 20 minutes. The Panthers shot 56 percent in the second half. Galligan was joined in double figures by Ellen Canale and Dominique Sims, who each scored 13.
         "They had experience on the floor and were able to take advantage of opportunities we allowed.
         Eastern Illinois, like Saturday's opponent Austin Peay, is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Saturday's game is set for 7 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
