Bradley Outlasts Cougars

         PEORIA, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville came up short in a tough loss at Bradley 66-57.
         SIUE falls to 1-11 while Bradley improves to 7-2 on the season.
         "We had a chance to win the game. That is all I can ask for from our team," Coach Amanda Levens said. "I was very proud of our effort."
         SIUE came out with an early six-point lead over Bradley at 12-6 to start the game. The Cougars led the game until Bradley's Raisa Taylor tied the game at 27-27 with 5:35 left in the first half.
         Melia Duncan led the scoring attack for Cougars with 13 points. Jessie Stapleton finished with nine points and 10 rebounds. Jenny Wuest and Madison Meade added eight points each.
         The top scorer of the game was Bradley's Mackenzie Westcott with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Monica Rogers added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
         The Cougars headed into the locker room trailing by seven, 37-30.
         Bradley's 32 points off SIUE's 25 turnovers caused problems for the Cougars. "Our turnovers really hurt us down the stretch," Levens said.
         In the second half, SIUE cut the lead to two with 1:27 left in the game. Then the Braves pulled away by hitting 6 of 7 free throws down the stretch.
         SIUE will be back on the road Saturday in Conway, Ark., to take on Central Arkansas at 2 p.m.
