SIUE Wins Third Straight on the Road

           ROLLA, Mo. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball won its third straight road contest Saturday, tripping up Missouri S&T 58-46.
           The Cougars kept Missouri S&T winless in Great Lakes Valley Conference play and moved into a tied for second place in the GLVC West Division with Southern Indiana. SIUE is now 14-9 overall and 7-8 in the GLVC. Missouri S&T fell to 3-20.
           SIUE won Saturday's matchup with its bench play. Anthony Jones came off the bench to lead all scorers with 14 points. The Cougars' bench outscored the Miners' bench 27-6.
           Missouri S&T never found a rhythm against SIUE's stingy defense. The Miners shot 31.6 percent (18-57) for the game. Justin Taylor finished as the Miners leading scorer with 13 points.
           Another hot shooting start for the Cougars, hitting 56 percent of their shots in the first half, resulted in a 31-24 lead at halftime. SIUE made a quick 10-3 run in the first 3:12 of the second half and cruised to the victory. J.B. Jones was the only other Cougar in double figures with 12 points.
           This current five-game road trip ends Tuesday when the Cougars travel to Quincy for a 7:30 p.m. contest. SIUE's final three games of the regular season are at the Vadalabene Center beginning with a Feb. 21 date with Southern Indiana.
