Three-Pointers Pace Cougars Over Oaks

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- A pair of three-point records were tied and one more was broken Monday as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball trounced Oakland City 85-48 at the Vadalabene Center.
           T.J. Gray tied the school record for single-season three-pointers with 74. He equaled the mark set by Ron Jones in the 2002-2003 season. As a team, SIUE broke the Vadalabene Center record and tied the school record with 15 three-pointers. The previous record was set in 1993.
           SIUE improved to 11-8 and holds a three-game winning streak heading back into Great Lakes Valley Conference play at Lewis Thursday at 7:45 p.m.
           Six different players recorded three-pointers Monday in the team's final non-conference game of the season. Gray and John Edmison each hit four to lead the Cougars.
           Edmison turned in his best offensive game as a Cougar with 18 points. Anthony Jones sported 17 points, including three three-pointers. Gray finished with 16. Nikola Bundalo recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
           SIUE shot 56.9 percent (33-58) from the field and 55.6 percent (15-27) from three-point range, giving the visiting Oaks very little room for error. It was the fourth straight game SIUE has shot better than 50 percent from the field.
           The Cougar defense held Oakland City to 30.2 percent shooting and converted 18 turnovers into 22 points.
           Oakland City, now 14-8, played with six players until the final five minutes of the game when SIUE held a comfortable 30-point lead. Keegan Carmony and Josh Wilmes shared top scoring honors with 11 points.
