Season Ends at Northern Kentucky

           EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Northern Kentucky pulled away at the finish and ended the season for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball team.
           Northern Kentucky, which advances to the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Championships, defeated SIUE 68-56 with NKU Coach Nancy Winstel grabbing the microphone after the game and giving Coach Wendy Hedberg a tribute after her final game as SIUE's head coach.
           The Cougars were pesky against the Norse. The game was tied nine times, and there were 14 lead changes. SIUE and NKU were tied 56-56 with 6:49 to play when Danyelle Scholes tied the game. NKU went on the score the last 12 points of the game.
           SIUE was led by 22 points from Amber Shelton. Whitney Sykes, also playing in her final collegiate game, scored 13 points, including three three-pointers.
           Northern Kentucky posted balanced scoring with four players in double figures led by 17 from Jessie Slack.
