         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Sydney Winslow led three Southern Illinois University Edwardsville players in double figures as the women's basketball Cougars defeated visiting Houston Baptist 78-64 at the Vadalabene Center.
         Winslow captured career highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead SIUE to its fifth victory of the season. The Cougars improved to 5-17 overall while Houston Baptist fell to 7-15.
         SIUE Coach Amanda Levens said Winslow attacked the offensive boards.
         "She pursued everything. She did a good job of getting position," said Levens.
         SIUE's post players were strong as Jenny Wuest tossed in 16 points. Senior forward Jessie Stapleton added the 10th double-double of her career with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
         Levens said her team did a good job of making good passes all game.
         "We tried to keep our concentration on every possession," said Levens. "I was pleased with our intensity."
         Cindee Wright powered the Huskies with a game-high 22 points as Houston Baptist shot just 33.9 percent from the field.
         SIUE's Ashley Bey collected five more steals Thursday and inched toward the school record for steals. She now has 91 and needs three more to break the single-season record set by Misi Clark during the 1997-98 season.
         The Cougars now have less than 48 hours off to get ready for a rematch with Seattle. Game time Saturday is 5:30 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center.
