EVANSTON, Ill. - Two players recorded double-doubles for Northwestern as the Wildcats defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 68-37.
Amy Jaschke finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocks for Northwestern. Danielle Diamant added 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Melia Duncan paced SIUE with 14 points, including three three-pointers.
"Their size game gave us a little trouble. They altered some shots early," said SIUE Coach Amanda Levens.
The Cougars struggled from the field, hitting 12 of 62 from the field for 19.4 percent.
Levens said SIUE aimed to cut down easy passing angles and limit Northwestern's outside game. "For the most part our guards did well," she said. The Wildcats hit 3 of 12 from three-point range and used its inside game to force the issue.
"Our half-court defense was solid," said Levens.
SIUE continues its three-game road swing in the Chicagoland area with a Monday game at Loyola. Game time is 4:45 p.m.
