EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- It hasn't taken long for someone to notice the good start for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball.
SIUE, 15-5 after wins Tuesday over Bryant and Penn, has received votes in two NCAA Division I softball polls this week. The polls are run by ESPN.com/USA Softball and UtlimateCollegeSoftball.com.
The Cougars, coached by Sandy Montgomery, collected their first wins against nationally-ranked teams last week, defeating now-No. 16/16 Missouri and No. 23/25 Southern Illinois Carbondale.
Florida earned the No. 1 spot in both polls.
