WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Four Southern Illinois University Edwardsville wrestlers finished in the top five Saturday in the season-opening UCM Open.

Steve Ross, a 157-pounder, and Robert Cooney, a 197-pounder, placed fourth and fifth respectively. Dillon Pousson and Brendan Murphy, a pair of SIUE wrestlers who were competing unattached at the event, also finished among the place winners. Pousson took third at 149 pounds while Murphy earned fourth at 133 pounds.

SIUE Head Coach David Ray said this event give his wrestlers an indication not only of how strong the individuals are but also what needs to be fixed next week at practice.

"You can see the growth from two years ago to now," said Ray. "The quality is getting better."
