Box Score Aug. 21, 2010
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Jared Tejada blasted past his defender and scored from the top of the 18-yard box with 16.6 seconds left on the clock as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville downed Loyola (Ill.) 2-1 in a men's college soccer exhibition contest.
Tejada's goal was timely to say the least. Senior Randy Roy provided the entry pass into Tejada, who sped past his defender and buried the ball into the net past Loyola's second-half goalkeeper Christian Krueger.
SIUE goalkeeper Scott Meyer picked up one save and the victory. Loyola goalkeepers Peter McKeown and Krueger had just one save between them.
Loyola put up the first number on the scoreboard with a score at 15:16. Andy Weis headed the ball from the penalty spot with a cross from Eric Marofske.
SIUE's heroics started in the first half when the Cougars evened the score with less than a minute to play. Jack Twellman served a free kick from 35 yards out in the middle of the field. He booted the ball to Kyle Waller, who headed it in.
The Cougars outshot Loyola in both halves and finished with a 10-6 advantage.
