PEORIA, Ill. - Senior Marc
Amarillas ran a personal best to lead the SIUE men's cross
country team to a 13th-place finish of 19 teams at the Bradley
Classic Friday night from Newman Golf Course.
Amarillas led the Cougars with a 23rd-place finish, running a
personal best time of 25 minutes, 31.8 seconds in the 8,000-meter
race.
"Marc continues to run well," said SIUE Head Coach Eileen
McAllister. "It was nice to see him run 18 seconds faster than
he did at this meet last year."
Junior Aaron
Werths (26:22.0) and sophomore Campbell
Walters (26:24.4) crossed the finish with nearly identical
times placing 65th and 69th, respectively.
Senior Shawn
Dillard ran the 8k in 26:44.1 for 88th place while freshman Nick
Moore (27:12.6) and sophomore J.D.
Wynn (27:45.6) fell off the pace set by their SIUE
teammates.
"We didn't run at all what I expected coming into today," added
McAllister. "Training has been going great so I expected fast
times."
The Cougars look to close the season on a positive note with
their final meet of 2011 Oct. 21 at the Illini Open in
Champaign.
