TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A crowd of 2,423 came out Sunday to watch No. 2-ranked Alabama roll to an 8-0 victory over SIUE in college softball action at Rhoads Stadium.

Alabama rallied for seven runs in the first inning and to improve to 13-0. SIUE Head Coach Sandy Montgomery said that despite the loss the Cougars had a great experience playing in front of a large crowd at the Easton Bama Bash.

Kaila Hunt and Jaydn Spencer each hit home runs for the Crimson Tide, which showed why it's ranked among the nation's top teams.

"They have all the athleticism, pitching, and hitting," said Montgomery.

Amanda Lambrecht, who was named to the Bama Bash All-Tournament team, came into the game in the first inning in relief of starter Lindsey Coleman.

"I thought Amanda came in and did a nice job," said Montgomery. Lambrecht allowed just one run in her 3 1/3 innings of play.

The Cougars allowed six hits to Alabama, and SIUE picked up its offensive with hits from Alex McDavid and Whitney Davis.

Next up for SIUE is the Coach B Classic in Carbondale. The Cougars will play Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Wright State and host SIU Carbondale. Montgomery said the Cougars will work to improve its 5-8 record.

"We know the things we need to make better," she said.
