Box Score 2 EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE and Eastern Kentucky will finish the second game of Saturday's softball doubleheader on Sunday after weather conditions forced suspension of play.
EKU won the first game of Saturday's scheduled doubleheader 6-1. The second game was complete through one inning but play was stopped due to a lightning delay. With heavy rain at Cougar Field and more forecasted, play was halted.
Sunday's schedule resumes with a noon start beginning with the second inning of the second game of this three-game series. Following that game, Sunday's regularly scheduled game will be played.
The Cougars fell to 20-27 overall and 10-14 in the OVC after game one's loss. Rachel Coonrod provided SIUE's only RBI with a fourth-inning single that scored Brittany Toney.
The Colonels, now 25-25 overall and 14-10 in the OVC, used the long ball to defeat the Cougars. Two homers came off the bat Raquel Howes in the third and fifth innings. Larkyn Wood also homered for the Colonels. All three were solo home runs.
Leanna Pittsenbarger, 14-12, was the winning pitcher after scattering seven hits. She also had started game two before play was halted.
Amanda Lambrecht took the loss and is now 15-13. She struck out four Colonels batters.
