PEORIA, Ill. – SIUE men's cross country finished 10th in the Bradley Pink Classic to complete their last race before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
"We had a lot of good things happen today," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister. "We got out quicker and were more mentally engaged in the race."
Leading for the Cougars was junior Clint Kliem. Kliem broke the top 10 on the SIUE all-time 8K list with his time of 25:09.6. He replaced his own time in the Bradley Pink Classic from a year ago and set a new personal best. Kliem finished 21st overall.
Sophomore Keith Meyer ran a personal best crossing the finish line second for the Cougars and 24th overall. His time of 25:12.1 places him 11th on the SIUE all-time 8K.
Nick Moore and Scott Woodard finished third and fourth for the Cougars, respectively. Moore finished 43rd with a time of 25:38.2. Woodard ran a personal best 25:38.3, finishing 45th overall.
"Things are looking good," said McAllister. "They are positioning themselves to compete against conference opponents."
Completing the top five for the Cougars was freshman Ben Scamihorn, running a personal best of 26:50.7 and finishing 130th.
Anthony Holshouser also recorded a personal best 27:08.5.
"We still have things to work out," said McAllister. "Conference opponents were ahead of us, and that can't happen."
The Cougars next race is the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Saturday Nov. 1 at 10 a.m.
