Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis won two doubles matches in a 6-1 loss to Saint Louis.
Despite playing one player short due to injuries, the Cougars managed to win No. 1 and No. 2 doubles against St. Louis.
The pair of Lexi Aranda and Sierra Halverson improves to 2-8 in doubles play this season. Mia Frogner and Monique Krutak, playing together for the first time this season, are now 1-0.
"We came out strong in doubles today, it was the best I've seen them play all year," said Head Coach Amanda Pratzel.
The Cougars went into singles play up 1-0 over the Billikens, but Saint Louis prevailed in all six matches. Halverson and Haley Ilcewicz both took their opponents to three sets. Aranda battled in two sets, losing to Aspen Cervin 7-5, 7-5.
"We aren't going to hang our heads," said Pratzel. "We'll be ready to play Missouri next week."
The Cougars travel to Columbia, Missouri Wednesday, Jan. 28 for a 5 p.m. match against Missouri.
