EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's soccer travels to Indianapolis for a nonconference match at Butler Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
SIUE is coming off a 4-0 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday, has won three of its last four games and is 5-3-1 overall this season.
Butler has won three straight games and is unbeaten (6-0-3) to start the season. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 19, according to TopDrawerSoccer.com, and were receiving votes in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, with a new poll will be released Tuesday.
"The guys feel good to play a top team from the Big East," SIUE Head Coach Mario Sanchez said. "They have very good players and coaches. We're on the road again so it's another great test for us."
This is the second all-time meeting between the two teams. SIUE and Butler played to a 1-1 tie in Edwardsville last season.
The Butler game is the first of two nonconference matches this week for the Cougars. SIUE will travel to Northwestern for a meeting with the Wildcats Saturday.
"This whole week will be good for us," Sanchez added. "It's a good opportunity for us to continue to grow and learn more about ourselves. I am happy for our guys to have these games and these experiences."
