Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Cougars won their second straight match of the weekend against Missouri State, improving to 3-2 during the spring season.
"We came out with a lot of energy and again played with confidence," said Head Coach Amanda Pratzel. "When you play back-to-back days, you always want the same intensity from day one. Conference play is back-to-back like this weekend, so this helped us to prepare for that."
SIUE won the doubles point for the second straight match with the pairs of Mia Frogner/Monique Krutak and Lexi Aranda/Sierra Halverson each winning 6-2. Frogner and Krutak have now won four straight matches, improving their record to a perfect 4-0. Aranda and Halverson improve to 4-9.
Four Cougars earned points by winning their singles matches. Aranda, in the No. 1 position, is now 9-3 in singles play with her decisive win over Ema Turudija, 6-0, 6-3.
Frogner (14-4), Krutak (8-7), and Halverson (8-9) each won in two sets to earn the final points for SIUE.
"Now we need to regroup, rest, and focus our attention to next weekend," said Pratzel.
The Cougars travel to Peoria, Illinois to face Bradley Feb. 7 for a 1 p.m. match-up.
