NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a doubleheader against Belmont and Tennessee State, the SIUE women's tennis teams comes out 2-0 in the opening weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play.

Against the Bruins of Belmont, the doubles pars of Mia Frogner / Monique Krutak (7-4) andLexi Aranda / Sierra Halverson (7-3) tallied a win.

Aranda (10-3), Frogner (8-4), and Krutak (7-6) sealed the victory for the Cougars with wins in their singles matches. The other matches did not finish as the Cougars has secured the 4-0 win.

The second match against Tennessee State resulted in another 6-0 sweep for the Cougars. Each singles match resulted in a 6-0,6-0 win for the Cougar squad, which did not allow the Tigers to score a single point the entire match.

"We came out in both of our matches with goals in mind and we stuck with them," said Head Coach Amanda Pratzel. "Now we will build off of a solid day and carry it into next weekend."

SIUE returns home for a weekend OVC match-up against Murray State Friday at noon, and Austin Peay Saturday at 10 a.m.
