Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis improved its Ohio Valley Conference record to 3-1 Saturday with a 7-0 triumph over Austin Peay at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
"I'm very proud of the girls for how we bounced back after a tight loss yesterday," said SIUE Head Coach Amanda Pratzel. "Everybody played well today and took care of business."
After the Cougars swept the doubles matches, Monique Krutak began SIUE's victory run as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Vanessa Tavares at No. 3 singles.
Haley Ilcewicz was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Jovana Karac at No. 6 singles. Lexi Aranda swept past Ornello DiSalvo 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Kali Donner topped Brittney Tavares 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Mia Frogner needed a tiebreaker in the second set to defeat Hannah Tatlock 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Sierra Halverson came from behind to top Isabela Jovanovic 1-6, 6-0, 10-7.
SIUE improved to 7-8 overall. Austin Peay dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the OVC.
"Now we have a few days to regroup and get ready for a big home match on Wednesday," said Praztel.
The Cougars face off against Eastern Illinois Wednesday. The match gets underway with a noon start at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
