NOTE: A five-hour rain delay Friday delayed action at the OVC Tournament. The SIUE-Jacksonville State elimination game will start at 10 a.m. Saturday. The winner of the 10 a.m. game will play Murray State in an elimination game. The winner of that game moves on to play Tennessee Tech.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE ran out to a 10-0 lead Friday and never looked back, defeating Eastern Illinois 10-2 in an elimination game at the OVC Softball Championship.

SIUE improved to 41-15. The Cougars will face Jacksonville State at 10 a.m. Saturday. Eastern Illinois was eliminated at 1-2 in the tournament and finishes the season 21-27.

The Cougars scored four times in the first inning to chase Eastern Illinois starter Jessica Wireman.

Alex McDavid paced the Cougars' offensive onslaught. She was 3 for 3. The senior connected on a pair of home runs and added a double to finish with four RBIs. Whitney Lanphier was 1 for 2 with a two-run single in the first inning.

Haley Chambers started and allowed just a single hit over three scoreless innings. She struck out two and improved to 24-7. Baylee Douglass tossed two innings. She allowed two runs on two hits and struck out three.
