GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
The 2017-18 season marks the 50th season of SIUE men's basketball. The men's basketball program began with the 1967-68 season, the first of three under the late Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer
Harry Gallatin.
THIRD SEASON
SIUE Head Coach
Jon Harris is in his third season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 12-48 in two seasons in charge.
LAST TIME
Tevonn Walker scored a game-high 22 points to send undefeated Valparaiso past SIUE 94-69 on Wednesday night at the Vadalabene Center and spoil the Cougars home opener. Valpo, the newest member of the Missouri Valley Conference, hit 29 of 55 shots and used a 17-0 spree in the first half to build a 42-31 halftime lead and never look back.
Daniel Kinchen and
Jalen Henry both tried to pump plenty of life into the Cougars. Each scored 21 points. Henry also snared nine rebounds.
Justin Benton contributed eight points and five assists.
SERIES STUFF
Tonight's matchup marks the second consecutive year the two teams have met in men's basketball. The Hatters have won both meetings, including an 80-72 win last season at Vadalabene Center.
