GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

The 2017-18 season marks the 50th season of SIUE men's basketball. The men's basketball program began with the 1967-68 season, under Naismith Hall of Famer Harry Gallatin. 

 

THIRD SEASON 

SIUE Head Coach Jon Harris is in his third season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 21-63 overall. 

 

TONIGHT

The Cougars look to add to their road win total, which stands at five-the most in the Division I era. SIUE is tied with Eastern Illinois for the seventh and eighth spots in the OVC, which are the final tourney spots.

 

LAST TIME

SIUE kept itself in the hunt for an OVC tournament bid with a 70-69 road win at UT Martin Thursday. The Cougars turned the tables on the Skyhawks who grabbed a 70-69 win of their own in Edwardsville Jan. 20. Keenan Simmons paced the Cougars with a perfect night from the field. The senior scored a career-high 25 points on a 12-for-12 night shooting. He scored 21 points in the first half to help the Cougars to a halftime advantage. UT Martin opened a five-point lead three times in the opening minutes, before the Cougars pulled ahead. The Cougars led 41-34 at halftime. UT Martin took a second half lead, but SIUE regained the lead late in the half. 

 

SERIES STUFF

SIUE trails the all-time series with the Redhawks 19-9. The Cougars are 3-10 all-time in Cape Girardeau. SEMO has won three straight in the series.
