Box Score O'FALLON, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team fell to Saint Louis 6-1 Friday at the St. Clair Tennis Center.
The Cougars, 0-6, won their first singles match of the season when Lara Tupper defeated Cassie McKenzie (SLU) 6-2, 6-4 at #1 singles.
"What a great effort by Lara today," Head Coach Nick Mueller said. "She was a real shot of adrenaline for the team."
In doubles, Ally McKenzie/Cassie McKenzie (SLU) versus Tupper / Raillane Kamdem (SIUE) DNF for result and Mariluz Rojo/Alana Bourgeois (SLU) def. Katherine Lahue / Anna Talley (SIUE) 6-0.
In the other singles matches, Rojo def. Kamdem 6-1, 6-0, Bourgeois def. Lahue 6-0, 6-0 and Alba Salinas (SLU) def. Talley 6-0, 6-0.
"The team has improved in so many areas and today it started to show." Mueller added. "Overall, I'm very proud of the team's performance."
The Cougars continue their road swing when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to face Central Arkansas Feb. 25.
