CARBONDALE, Ill. – The SIUE cross country teams competed in the Saluki Early Bird meet Friday. SIUE's Ben Scamihorn placed second in the men's 5K.

The men and women both competed in a 5K race at the meet. Both the SIUE men's and women's team placed fourth out of five teams overall.

Scamihorn placed second in the men's 5K with a time of 15:50.71. Austin Woodard took eighth (16:17.08) for SIUE. Landon Skelly placed 15^th, Liam O'Connell 18^th and Joseph Stone 33^rd.

For the women, Aly Goff led the SIUE pack finishing sixth overall (19:10.20). Keri Burmester took 17^th and Kassidy Dexheimer 22^nd. Freshman Emily Ellis and Gabrielle Wood placed 27^th and 31^st respectively.

The SIUE cross country teams will be back in action Sept. 14 when they host the John Flamer Invitational.
