DeKALB, Ill. – Two SIUE wrestlers earned weekend sweeps as the Cougars dropped a Mid-American Conference dual Sunday at Northern Illinois 28-6.

SIUE's Christian Dulaney was a 7-5 winner over Northern Illinois' Max Ihry at 197 pounds. Tyshawn Williams was an overtime winner for the Cougars, a 3-1 triumph over McCoy Kent at 149 pounds.

"Our guys wrestled really hard," said SIUE Head Coach Jeremy Spates. "In almost every match, we had more offensive attacks."

Most of the Huskies' wins were by five points or less.

"I'm not unstasfied with our effort," noted Spates. "But we've got to a little more smart wrestling and a little more technically."

Northern Illinois improved to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the MAC.

The Cougars, 1-8 overall and 1-2 in the MAC, return home for a dual next Sunday against Central Michigan. Match time is 2 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center.
