NASHVILLE, Tenn. – SIUE women's tennis fell 5-2 against Belmont Saturday. The Cougars picked up two big wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches against the Bruins.

The Cougars drop to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Belmont improve to 11-6 and 4-1 in the OVC.

SIUE dropped both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches. The No. 2 doubles match went unfinished with SIUE's Callaghan Adams and Maria Thibault up 5-4 on Erin Allen and Peyton Lee.

In No. 1 singles, SIUE's Alina Munteanu defeated Drew Hawkins, 6-3, 6-3. Munteanu improves to 9-4 overall in singles play this year.

SIUE's Lara Tupper defeated Lee, 7-6, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles match. Tupper has now won five straight No. 2 singles matches, and is 9-2 overall in No. 2 singles.

The Cougars dropped the rest of the singles matches to drop the match to the Bruins.

Next up for SIUE is a two-match OVC home stand, where it will face Murray State Apr. 12 and Austin Peay Apr. 13.
