Box Score 2 CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - SIUE softball improved to 6-0 with a pair of wins at the 2020 Frost Classic.
The Cougars bested host Chattanooga in the opening game of the day 5-2 and followed that up with a 6-4 win over Miami (Ohio).
"We're a veteran team so the leadership helps a lot," said SIUE second baseman Bailley Concatto, who homered in the win over Miami.
"Bailley had a phenomenal day," said Head Coach Jessica Jones "I'm extra proud of her leadership and her maturity as a hitter. She is a great situational hitter."
Zoe Schafer also belted her third home run of the season for the Cougars, which came from behind in the nightcap.
Kloe Hilbrenner ripped three hits in the nightcap.
"I just had to keep the momentum going for the team," added Hilbrenner.
Emily Ingles earned the win in the opening game of the day with Lexi King adding her first collegiate save against Chattanooga.
Ingles also shut down Miami in the late innings.
"I'm proud of how the pitching staff is picking each other up," said Jones.
SIUE continues play at the Frost Classic Sunday morning with an 8 a.m. CT game against UNLV and a 10 a.m. contest against St. Francis (Pa.).
