LAST TIME
Creighton used an 11-0 run over the final four minutes to score a come-from-behind 70-65 win over SIUE Saturday. The Cougars built a 12-point lead at halftime thanks to shooting 50 percent (19-38) from the field. SIUE pushed its lead to 16 with back-to-back baskets from
DeeJuan Pruitt and
Ray'Sean Taylor. The teams traded points several times and SIUE had pushed the lead back to 16 (56-40) on a
Shaun Doss, Jr. bucket with 15:33 to play, when Creighton started its run.
SHARP SHOOTERS
SIUE has hit at least 45 percent of its shots in four games this year, with the St. Thomas game being its best at 50 percent. Last year, the Cougars' season-best was 58 percent against Tennessee Tech and SIUE shot at least 50 percent in a game eight different times.Â
ROAD WARRIORS
SIUE plays eight of its first nine games away from Edwardsville this year. With six road wins in 2020-21, SIUE set a new mark for road wins in a season in the Division I era.Â
TAYLOR DEBUTS
Taylor turned his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds at Creighton. He was the OVC Freshman of the Week after averaging 20.0 points per game in his first two games. He is third in the league in scoring at 16.9 points per game. Taylor is returning after missing last season with a torn right ACL. He is the all-time leading scorer at Collinsville High School with more than 2,100 points. He posted a 53-point game against Trinity (St. Louis) during his senior year.
WILLIAMS RETURNS
Cam Williams has played in three games and is averaging 12 minutes per game. The Knox game was his first game action since he sustained a torn (ACL) Jan. 30 at UT Martin. The Cougars' most experienced player, Williams has appeared in 74 games, while making 48 starts in his career.Â
OLD HOME WEEK
SIUE Head Coach
Brian Barone is returning to Omaha for the first time as a head coach. His father, the late Tony Barone, Sr., was the head coach at Creighton  from 1985-91. Tony, Sr. was 102-82 in his career as the Bluejays head coach.
