THE COUGARS: Play their final regular season game Saturday at Drake. Missouri Valley Conference Tournament play begins next week.
BACK IN THE VALLEY: After playing four seasons in the Mid-American Conference, SIUE officially returns to the Missouri Valley Conference, where the Cougars played as affiliate members from 2010-2016. SIUE won a pair of tournament championships, one regular season championship and amassed a record of 25-13-7 in the MVC.
LAST TIME:
Oskar Lenz sent 14 Cougar seniors off with a win thanks to a goal with 18 seconds left in the second overtime period to give SIUE a 1-0 win over Loyola Sunday afternoon.
SERIES STUFF: SIUE is facing Drake for the second time this season and the 18th time all-time. The Cougars edged the Bulldogs, 2-1 earlier this season in Edwardsville.
PLANTING SEEDS: The Cougars currently are tied for fourth in the league with Drake. SIUE could finish anywhere from third to sixth. If the Cougars finishe third or fourth they would host a quarterfinal game in the MVC Tournament Tuesday night.
FEAST OR FAMINE: SIUE has scored at least two goals in a game on six separate occasions.The Cougars have been shutout seven times this season, including each of the last three games.
LEADERS: SIUE remains the the third-highest scoring team in the Valley with 19 total goals (1.25 avg.). The Cougars are third in total shots (156) and have generated the fourth most corners (61).
Alex Segura is tied for sixth in the league with four goals, while four SIUE players are among the Valley's top 10 in goals.
OVERTIME: SIUE has played six overtime games this year (3-1-2). They played two last year and seven games in 2019. The school record for overtime games in a season is nine, in 2014 and 2016.
ONE-GOAL GAMES: SIUE improved to 4-7 in one-goal games this year. They were 3-2 in one-goal games last season.
