OPENING TIP
• SIUE returns from a three-game road trip that was capped off by the team's biggest win of the season, a 77-52 triumph at Morehead State.
Tyler Butler scored her first collegiate points Saturday at Morehead State and scored four points against the Eagles.
• SIUE is tied for sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with Eastern Illinois at 3-3. The Cougars have seven wins so far this season, the most since the 2018-19 season.
Mikayla Kinnard scored 14 points in the win over Morehead State, her highest scoring output since the beginning of the OVC season.
Gabby Nikitinaite scored 20 points Thursday at Tennessee Tech. It is the third time she has scored 20 or more in a game this season.
Jaida Hampton was the leading scorer last Monday in SIUE's loss at Austin Peay with 14 points.
• SIUE is second in the OVC in turnovers forced per game (20.25) and 37th nationally.
• The Cougars are 41st nationally and 42nd nationally, respectively, in free throws made (227) and free throws attempted (319).
Sofie Lowis was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Week after her 21-point performance in the win over Southeast Missouri.
• Kinnard was the last SIUE player to earn OVC Freshman of the Week honors during the 2019-20 season.
• This the first time since the 2014-15 season that SIUE has had a Player, Newcomer and a Freshman of the Week all in the same season.
• Nikitinaite and Troeckler each recently hit the 1,000-point mark in their collegiate careers.
Prima Chellis was named the OVC Co-Player of the Week (12/28). Nikitinaite has been named the Newcomer of the Week twice. Hampton was named OVC Newcomer of the Week (11/30).
