Ruthey, Cougars Finish Second in Omaha

ELKHORN, Neb. – Anthony Ruthey led three SIUE golfers in the top 10 and helped the Cougars to a runner-up finish at the Big O Classic completed Tuesday at Indian Creek Golf Course.

The Cougars finished at 868 to tie with co-host Omaha for second place. The two teams were five shots behind St. Thomas which one the team title. SIUE's team score of 868 is among the top 20 lowest team scores in school history. 

Ruthey finished second and only one shot back of Individual Medalist, Shaun Campbell of Creighton, with a 211 (-5). The 211 is tied for the lowest 54-hole total of Ruthey's career and tied for 16th lowest 54-hole total at SIUE.

Brady Kaufmann and Alex Eickhoff finished at 217 (+1) to tie for 10th place. The 217 is the lowest in Eickhoff's SIUE career and one off Kaufmann's career low.

Luke Ludwig, playing as an individual, tied for 30th at 223. Presley Mackelburg tied for 45th at 225. TJ Baker tied for 71st at 232. Brooks Jungbluth finished at 235 to tie for 84th.

SIUE's final fall tournament is the ODU Kilmarlic Invitational Oct. 23-25.
