EVANSVILLE, Ind. – SIUE men's soccer's season came to a close with a 1-0 loss at Evansville in the quarterfinal round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Sunday.

SIUE finishes at 5-9-2 overall. Evansville improves to 7-4-6 and will move on the MVC semifinals in Springfield, Missouri where it will meet Belmont.

Jose Vivas scored the only goal of the match after an Aces corner kick. Vivas blasted over SIUE goalkeeper Sam Gomez from inside the 18-yard box. The corner was one of 15 for Evansville in the game The Cougars did not have a single corner.

Evansville outshot SIUE 18-8. The Aces put seven on goal, forcing Gomez to make a career-high six saves.

Ignacio Abeal Pou led the Cougars' attack with three shots, two of which came on goal. Myles Sophanavong had a pair of shots, including one on frame.
