LAST GAME: SIUE led by three points midway through the first quarter, but the Washington Huskies regained their lead shorty after and never looked back, downing the Cougars 71-40 in their final nonconference game of the season on Tuesday afternoon. Washington held SIUE to just 25 percent from the floor while shooting 47 percent and outrebounded the Cougars 50-30. Senior forward Ajulu Thatha led the scoring efforts for SIUE finishing with 13 points. She shot 5-11 from the floor and 2-2 at the free throw line. Thatha also led the Cougars with eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: KK Rodriguez was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 27 after averaging 12.5 points and 4.0 assists at the Husky Classic. Her 19 points vs. Liberty marked a new career high for the senior transfer from Tulsa. She ranks ninth in the OVC averaging 2.9 assists per game and leads SIUE with 26 this season.

LET IT FLY: SIUE ranks second in the OVC averaging 21.1 three-point attempts per game. The Cougars rank third averaging 5.1 three pointers per game.

SHOOT YOUR SHOT: Sophomore guard Molly Sheehan ranks fifth in the OVC connecting on 1.8 three-pointers per contest. She leads the Cougars with 20 from deep. Sheehan's 18 points at NIU on Dec. 17 marked a new career high.

BOARDS AND SCORES: Sophomore guard Sofie Lowis recorded a career-high seven rebounds while adding a season-best 20 points at Western Illinois on Dec. 11. Her 20-point outing was the second of her career. Lowis has also scored in double-figures in four of her last five games. She ranks 20th in the OVC averaging 8.9 points per contest.

AT THE HELM: Samantha Quigley Smith is in her second season in charge of SIUE She owns a 14-28 record with the Cougars and a combined collegiate record of 164-68 as head coach.
