Win Streak Comes to End at Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - SIUE softball's five-game Ohio Valley Conference winning streak came to a halt Saturday in the opening game of a three-game set at Tennessee Tech.

"I think we just have to hit the reset button a little bit offensively to get back to what we were doing when we were successful," said SIUE Interim Head Coach P.J. Finigan. "If we do that, we'll continue to have team success."

TTU defeated SIUE 4-0 behind a four-hitter by Alyssa Arden. She struck out eight and walked one for her 12th win of the season.

With the loss, SIUE dropped to 13-21 overall and 5-7 in the OVC. Tennessee Tech improved to 24-11 overall and 7-5 in the OVC.

Lexi King, 4-3, took the loss for the Cougars. She yielded just five hits and struck out one.

The two teams matchup Sunday for a noon doubleheader.

Bailley Concatto, Piper Montgomery, Micah Arps and Aerin Talley each had hits for the Cougars.

"We just couldn't string enough good at bats together," said Finigan.

After two first-inning runs, Tennessee Tech's Sydney Dukes led the Golden Eagles with a two-run single in the fifth inning.
