JACKSON, Tenn. – Luke Ludwig and Anthony Ruthey each earned a top-20 finish as SIUE completed play at UT Martin's Grover Page Classic Tuesday. The Cougars finished ninth of 16 teams.
SIUE finished at 883 after shooting 302 in Tuesday's final round. North Alabama finished at 843 (-21) to win the team title. Bellarmine (-8) and UT Martin (-7) finished second and third respectively.
Ludwig, playing as an individual, paced the Cougars. He set a career-low 54-hole total at 215 for the tournament and tied for 16th. Ludwig also tied his career-low round with a 70 in round two.
Ruthey tied for 20th at 217. Brady Kaufmann turned his best 54-hole total at 218 to tie for 29th. Alex Eickhoff finished at 220 to tie for 35th . The 220 is his lowest 54-hole total for SIUE. TJ Baker tied for 74th at 232. Presley Mackelburg finished at 235 to tie for 86th.
North Alabama's Carter Goodwin bested the field of 96 with a 207 (-9). UT Martin's Bryson Morrell and Murray State's Jay Nimmo tied for second at eight-under.
SIUE will next play host to 15 other schools at the Dolenc Invitational Sep. 26-27.
