LAST TIME OUT 
Ray'Sean Taylor recorded the first 30-point game of his career, but it wasn't enough as Tennessee Tech handed SIUE its third straight loss. The Golden Eagles downed the Cougars 80-68 Thursday at the Eblen Center. Taylor scored 30 points on 10-for-20 shooting. He was 5-10 from three-point range. He scored 20 of his points after halftime. Taylor added three rebounds, two assists and five steals. He did not turn the ball over. The Golden Eagles built a 13-point lead at the break thanks to shooting 46 percent from the field. The Cougars managed just seven of 24 shots (24 percent) in the first half and did not have an assist. The Cougars closed the gap to just five points with 2:19 left.

CONFERENCE CALL
SIUE is playing its 12th season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Cougars are 63-133 in the OVC. Brian Barone is 22-42 in his fourth season in the league.

With 14 wins, SIUE has won its most games at the Division I level.

BLOCK PARTY
SIUE tied the school record for blocks with 11 against Illinois Tech. The Cougars lead the OVC in blocks at 4.3 per game, which ranks 60th in the NCAA. Five Cougars appear in the top 15 individually in the OVC. 

DO IT FOR FREE
SIUE leads the OVC in free throw percentage at .743. The Cougars lead the league in free throws made per game at 16.9, which ranks 13th in the NCAA and attempts at 22.8, which is 20th nationally. SIUE has had seven games this year with at least 30 free throw attempts. The Cougars attempted 41 free throws Jan.5 vs. Tennessee State, which was the most in a single game since 2018.

MAJOR RECORD FOR MINOR
With his first free throw at Eastern Illinois, Damarco Minor set a new OVC record with 47 consecutive free throws made. The previous record was set by Morehead State's Glen Napier in 1981-82. Minor missed his next attempt, before beginning a new streak. He remains third nationally in free throw percentage at 93.3.
