ON THE ROAD
This is SIUE's first road dual match of the season after starting with a 6-1 win over Illinois Springfield last Saturday at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center.
UIS RECAP
Margaux Guibal Britt debuted as the No. 1 player for the Cougars, dispatching Eva Rubio 6-2, 6-4. Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year
Jill Lambrechts defeated Marianela Landi 6-3, 6-1.
Jordan Schifano blanked Riann Hsu at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Amelia Gorman and
Caitlyn Sporing also collected singles wins for the Cougars.
GIVING UP NOTHING
Schifano started the year without dropping a game in doubles or singles against Illinois Springfield. She joined doubles teammate Lambrechts for a 6-0 sweep over UIS No. 1 doubles players Marianela Landi and Eva Rubio.
SCOUTING VALPO
The Beacons were 3-0 in the fall season but dropped their first contest of the spring season 5-2 at Cleveland State. Valparaiso picked up wins from Olivia Czerwonka at No. 1 singles and Eleanor Chapman at No. 5 singles.
IN THE PAST
SIUE is 5-0 against Valparaiso. The Cougars bested Valpo 5-2 last season in Valparaiso, Indiana.
YEAR FIVE
Adam Albertsen is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Cougars. SIUE has increased its win total in each of the previous four years. Last season, the Cougars completed play with a 16-5 dual meet record.
