CLEVELAND, Ohio - SIUE wrestling dropped a pair of Mid-American Conference dual meets Saturday.

George Mason upended the Cougars 23-16 in the first match. Cleveland State topped SIUE 17-16 with the match being decided by on the criteria of near fall points.

SIUE Head Coach Jeremy Spates said the trio of Saul Ervin, Ryan Yarnell and Colton McKiernan were 3-0 for the weekend and have shown consistency this season.

"We have our core group," he said. "Saul, Ryan and Colton all went 3-0. These are the guys we have relied on throughout the season."

Ervin picked up a pair of major decision, defeating George Mason's Anthony Glasl 10-2 and Cleveland State's Caleb Rea 10-0. Yarnell earned a pair of close wins, dispatching George Mason's Jon List 2-1 and Cleveland State's Joey Lyons 2-0. McKiernan, who has a team-leading 21 victories, recorded SIUE's lone fall of the day, a 1 minute, 32 second victory over George Mason's Donovan Sprouse. He also defeated Cleveland State's Daniel Bucknavich 3-1.

SIUE, 4-7 overall and 1-6 in the MAC, is scheduled to compete at the Indianapolis Open next weekend. SIUE's next dual meet is Feb. 12 against Ohio at First Community Arena.
