SIUE Women's Tennis Enjoys Strong Effort at ITA Regionals

Box Score LAWRENCE, Kan. - SIUE women's tennis concluded the 2023 fall season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Championships at Kansas.

"This was a big time event that tested our team from the very first match," said SIUE Head Coach Adam Albertsen. "The region is loaded with talent, and I like how we didn't back down in any of our matches. The wind presented a massive challenge and really changed the game, but we continued to compete like crazy."

Amelia Gorman dropped her first-round match in teh main draw 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 to Wichita State's Giorgia Roselli. Jill Lambrechts also fell in her opening round match 7-2, 7-6 (12-10) to Central Arkansas' Vichitraporn Vimuktananda.

Margaux Guibal Britt, the fourth Cougar in the main draw, needed a pair of victories to secure her spot in the main draw. She defeated Missouri's Sophia McLellan 6-3, 6-2 and Omaha's Paula Acarons 7-5, 3-6, 10-4.

Cydney Rogers picked up a straight set win over Northern Iowa's Sreelasya Mylavarapu 6-1, 6-0. Rogers later teamed up with Guibal Britt to pick up the Cougars doubles win over North Dakota 's Jule Schulte and Nore Heinitz 8-6.

"It was great to finish our fall with multiple bright spots," said Albertsen. "I saw Cydney and Jordan play some of their best tennis of the fall. Our doubles looked good at times and will continue to improve at each position. We want to build off this and keep momentum moving into the spring season."
