EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – SIUE men's basketball rolled over East-West University 105-57 in exhibition play Sunday night at First Community Arena.
"We came out with the right attitude," SIUE Head Coach Brian Barone said. "East-West came in here and played extremely hard and it was a tough situation for them because of our personnel. We have some quality personnel and I'm excited about where this team to go. I thought we played the right way."
SIUE led 54-32 at half and limited the Phantoms to just 25 second-half points. The Cougars shot 53 percent (35-66) from the field overall and were 18-30 (60 percent) from the field in the second half. Â
Lamar (15 points) and Shamar (14) paced the Cougars attack, though many returners sat the majority of the second half. All 14 players on the roster saw time in the game and scored at least three points.
"It was nice to see everyone go in there and contribute the way they do day-to-day," Barone added.
Jaha Jackson scored 17 points and Charles Harris added 14 for East-West.
SIUE opens the regular season Mon., Nov. 6 at Dayton.
"We can work on our execution and communication," Barone said. "It's great to be back out here and we'll go back to work tomorrow morning."
