BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE junior guard Damarco Minor (Chicago) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week after leading the Cougars in scoring and rebounding for the week.
Minor opened the week with a then-season high 18 points in a home win against Green Bay. He added five rebounds and two assists in the game.
Sunday at Ball State he set another new season high with 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, for his fourth double-double of the season. He dished out three assists in the game.
Minor leads the Cougars in rebounding at 9.4 per game, which is good for third in the OVC. He is second on the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game, which ranks 15th in the league.
The award is the first of the season for Minor and for the Cougars. It is the second time in Minor's career he has earned Player of the Week honors.
SIUE is off from game action until Mon., Dec. 18 when the Cougars play host to Central Christian at First Community Arena.
