LAST GAME: Senior Ajulu Thatha set the SIUE women's basketball single-game rebounding record with 25 and the Cougars shot 44 percent (23-52) in the contest to run past Lindenwood on Thursday afternoon at Hyland Arena. Entering halftime, the Cougars took a four-point lead at 27-23. SIUE concluded the first half shooting 40 percent (10-25) and 4-7 from three. SIUE outrebounded Lindenwood 44-30 in the game and scored 14 on second chance opportunities.
PROGRAM HISTORY: Thatha grabbed her 24th rebound at Lindenwood on the defensive end with 52 seconds remaining, securing the most by a Cougar in program history. She picked up her 25th rebound on the offensive end 38 seconds later. Her 25 single-game rebounds mark the second most in Division I this season. Kathy Going (1978-79) and Kim Lowe (1998-99) held the previous SIUE record with 23.
ALL TIME REBOUNDS: Thatha passed Amy Tuetken (1993-96) at Little Rock for 20th on the Cougars' all-time leaderboard. She needs one rebound to pass LeAnn Bryan for 19th. Thatha has collected 563 over her career at SIUE (186o-377d).
DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE: Thatha has recorded 10 double-doubles this season, including last time out at Lindenwood. She's averaging 18.2 points and 11.5 rebounds since beginning league play. The senior leads the conference in rebounds per game (8.9) and double-doubles this season.
DISH IT AND TAKE IT: KK Rodriguez ranks 11th in the OVC averaging 2.7 assists per game. The 5-6 transfer from Tulsa leads the Cougars with 57 this season. She also is tied for ninth in the conference averaging 1.7 steals per contest. She is averaging 8.3 points per game against conference opponents.
CRASH THE GLASS: The Cougars lead the league in offensive rebounds per game at 12.1 and rank second in rebounds per game at 35.7. Thatha ranks second in the OVC averaging 2.8 offensive rebounds per game while Olivia Clayton's 1.8 ranks 12th.
LOWIS IS LEADING: Sofie Lowis is second on SIUE and 14th in the OVC averaging 11.5 points per contest. She also leads the league and ranks 51st in the country with 158 three-point attempts. Her four three pointers on Jan. 5 vs. Tennessee State tied a season high. Lowis ranks fifth in the OVC averaging 1.7 threes made and leads SIUE connecting on 40 from deep this season. She leads SIUE with 15 games in double figures.
