IUPUI RECAP
SIUE women's tennis poured on six straight sets victories in singles and collected a 6-1 victory over IUPUI at the Edwardsville Y Meyer Center. SIUE dropped the doubles point for the first time this season.
THREE STRAIGHT
The Cougars have won three straight matches heading into the weekend with victories over Valparaiso and Bradley of the Missouri Valley Conference and IUPUI of the Summit League. SIUE continues that theme with matches against St. Thomas (Summit League) and Northern Iowa (Missouri Valley).
ANOTHER SPRING DEBUT
Fabiola Perez made her spring debut with a double match against IUPUI. That followed up Jaiden McKee who had her first event Feb. 9 at Bradley.
TEN AND COUNTING
Jordan Schifano and Amelia Gorman passed the 10-win mark with their singles victories against IUPUI. Both are 10-3. As a team, SIUE is 61-22 in singles matches (a .735 winning percentage).
SERIES MATCHUPS
St. Thomas and SIUE met for the first time last season. The Cougars collected a 6-1 victory in Waterloo. SIUE and Northern Iowa have met three times with SIUE holding a 2-1 advantage.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
St. Thomas is 0-3 with losses to Bradley, Drake and Minnesota. Jannah ElNemr leads St. Thomas with six singles wins, including a 4-5 record at No. 1 singles. Northern Iowa has dropped its last three duals and is 1-6-1 overall. Andrijana Brkic has been the leader for the Panthers with a 17-5 singles record.
YEAR FIVE
Adam Albertsen is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Cougars. SIUE has increased its win total in each of the previous four years. Last season, the Cougars completed play with a 16-5 dual meet record.
