OVC HONORS
Jordan Schifano (Cedarburg, Wisconsin) and
Jill Lambrechts (Beerce, Belgium) were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference this week. Schifano earned two honors as the OVC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. She also joined Lambrechts as the OVC Doubles Team of the Week.
LAST TIME OUT
SIUE expanded its winning streak to five matches last weekend with 4-3 wins over St. Thomas (Minn.) and Northern Iowa.
CONSISTENCY
The Cougars are now 6-0 this season when Schifano wins her No. 3 singles match. She also leads the Cougars with a 12-3 overall singles record.
MORE PAST TEN
SIUE now has four players who have 10 or more singles victories this season. With Schifano leading at 12,
Amelia Gorman has 11 while Lambrechts and
Caitlyn Sporing each have 10.
SERIES MATCHUPS
SIUE holds a 3-0 advantage over Dayton. The two teams last met during the 2020-21 season in which SIUE captured a 6-1 over the Flyers.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Dayton has won six straight dual matches after starting the spring with losses to Miami (Ohio) and Xavier. The last time out the Flyers swept Wittenburg and Thomas More (Feb. 12) with identical 7-0 sweeps.
YEAR FIVE
Adam Albertsen is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Cougars. SIUE has increased its win total in each of the previous four years. Last season, the Cougars completed play with a 16-5 dual meet record.
