GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Anthony Ruthey tied his career-low and SIUE put up one of its lowest rounds ever as the Cougars finished play at the Loyola Intercollegiate Wednesday at Palm Valley Golf Course.
The Cougars combined for a 284 in Tuesday's final round which tied for No. 19 on SIUE's lowest all-tie team rounds. The Cougars finished in a tie for 10th place with Northern Colorado and Howard.
Utah Valley edged Marquette for the team title, 844-843. The two teams entered the final day tied for second behind Wright State, which ended up third overall.
Freshman Brady Kaufmann recorded his lowest 54-hole total at 213. He tied for 17th to earn his fourth top-20 finish this year. Ruthey carded a final-round 67 to match his best round. TJ Baker shot a 70 in the final round. Baker and Ruthey tied for 29th at 216. Luke Ludwig tied for 79th with a 224. Alex Eickhoff tied for 89th at 226.
Presley Mackelburg, who played as an individual, finished at 220 to tie for 70th.
The Cougars take a week off before traveling to Bandon, Oregon for Idaho's Bandon Dunes Championship March 12-14.
