EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE softball Head Coach Ben Sorden bolstered the Cougars' 2024 roster with the addition of Emma Henderson and Anna Henderson.
The twins played the last two seasons at Iowa and have two years of eligibility left with the Cougars.
The Battle Ground, Indiana, natives come from an athletic family with their father, Jason, and mother, Angela, both playing college basketball at Central College. Their brother, Ben, plays basketball at Marian.
The Hendersons won three conference championships and three sectional championships at William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Indiana. Both played club softball with the Orland Park A's for one season.
Emma, who plans to major in exercise science, has appeared in 52 games at Iowa in the circle. She posted a 3.09 earned run average in 11 1/3 innings pitched this past season. She also hit .250 in 2023 for the Hawkeyes.
At William Henry Harrison High School, Emma was a two-time third-team All-State pick in softball and a four-time All-Conference selection in basketball.
Anna, who plans to major in biology, saw action in 13 games over two seasons at Iowa, making one start behind the plate for the Hawkeyes.
Her high school career included a .522 batting average and a .588 on-base percentage. She belted 12 home runs and drove in 41 runs. A two-time first team All-Conference selection in high school, she was a member of the 2021 PGF All-American Watchlist.
She also played basketball for William Henry Harrison, earning four All-Conference honors.
