Men's Basketball Continues to Add to Staff

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's basketball Head Coach Brian Barone has announced the addition of Darreon Reddick to his staff as an assistant coach.

Reddick most recently spent two seasons at Missouri S&T, helping the Miners to 27 wins over the past two years. Before his time in Rolla, Reddick was an assistant at Northern Oklahoma College Enid for two years. Missouri S&T was 16-12 in 2022-23, its first winning season in 27 years. Reddick served as interim head coach for the last 5 games of the 22-23 season going 3-2 with key wins against UMSL and GLVC tournament champion Mckendree.

"Injecting Darreon into our staff is a huge positive for our program," Barone said. "Darreon has had success as a player in the Ohio Valley Conference and he understands what it takes to win in this league. We are excited to bring him back home to coach.  We have had success in recruiting metro east talent since I have been hired. Darreon had a successful career at Belleville East and knows our community well. He did a great job last season taking over head Coaching duties at Missouri S&T when called upon, and has a proven ability to recruit, coach and develop student-athletes."

A native of Belleville, Illinois, Reddick's responsibilities included academic oversight, recruiting, scouting, travel, weightlifting and player development at both institutions. Reddick also recruited Missouri S&T`s leading scorer and rebounder Ikenna Okeke.

"I came to SIUE to serve and continue to build upon the foundation that has been built under Coach Barone and his staff," Reddick said. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to learn, teach, recruit and win in a place I was raised."

Reddick is no stranger to the OVC, having played four seasons at Tennessee State where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game from 2014-2018.  He played in 121 games, making 103 starts during his career.  He finished his career with 169 assists, 75 steals and eight blocked shots. Reddick connected on 119 shots from three-point range, where he shot 33.1 percent for his career. He scored a career-high 25 points against Murray State in 2015, earning Freshman of the Week honors from the Ohio Valley Conference.

He served as a team captain for the Tigers during his senior year, which included a 20-point outing against No. 3 Kansas.

Reddick played professionally with B.C. Olimpi in Georgia and with the Pioneros in Mexico.
